DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA OCUPACIÓN

The IGTP is seeking a bioinformatician / data scientist to fill an open position in the High Content Genomics and Bioinformatics Unit of the institute to carry out tasks related to the processing and analysis of massive data. The successful candidate will provide support in bioinformatic analysis of datasets mainly derived from microarray and deep sequencing experiments, and from biomedical data science projects.
The institute is attached to one of the largest teaching hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTP), located on the surrounding biomedical Campus Can Ruti. The IGTP is a CERCA center; member of the biocluster supported and supervised by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is also accredited as a Center of Excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish Government) and, in this sense, acts as an umbrella organization for scientific research on campus, where it works closely with other centers located there. Bioinformatics and, in particular, genomics is a research area shared by many research groups on the Can Ruti campus that make use of the services offered by the Unit.

FUNCIONES

  • Pre-processing and quality control of genomic data, including bulk, single cell and spatial data and microarray and next generation sequencing technologies.
  • Applying machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms for classification of cell types and inference of functional status and text using large language models (LLMs).
  • Integrative analysis of clinical, medical imaging, histopathological, genomic, epigenomic, metagenomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic and/or proteomic data.
  • Communication with collaborators and core facility users and preparation of results reports.
  • Maintenance of data repository and documentation of procedures and bioinformatics tools to ensure reproducibility of analyses.

SE REQUIERE

The following requirements are mandatory:
  • Master with 120 additional ECTSn in bioinformatics / data science / bioengineering (or biomedical sciences or computer sciences with formal training in bioinformatics)
  • Good knowledge of the English language (read, written and spoken)
  • Demonstrable practical knowledge of computer programming languages: python, R, perl, bash, awk.
  • Experience as an advanced Linux system user.
The following requirements are highly desirable (will be valued):
  • Good knowledge of statistics, and use and/or development of bioinformatics and/or machine learning and/or artificial intelligence tools applied to massive data analysis.
  • Postgraduate training including baccalaureate (BS), master (MSc) or doctoral (PhD) degree studies or equivalent experience in the field .
  • Previous experience in data analysis in multidisciplinary research environments in biomedical settings.

  • Indefinite contract (Science Law 14/2011) Full-time contract
  • 26.000 gross salary
  • Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call, will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate, distributed in 12 payments.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.
