JOB DESCRIPTION
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing, analysing, and interpreting spatial transcriptomics datasets generated from acromegaly-associated pituitary tumours.
- Integrating multi-omics datasets, including transcriptomic, spatial transcriptomic, genomic, epigenomic, and clinical data.
- Developing and validating predictive models of treatment response using advanced statistical approaches, data mining techniques, and machine learning algorithms.
- Implementing and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines for high-throughput sequencing and multi-omics data analysis.
- Collaborating with clinicians, molecular biologists, and bioinformaticians in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Contributing to scientific publications, project reports, grant applications, and dissemination of research findings at national and international conferences.
- Participating in the design and development of innovative computational approaches for precision medicine in acromegaly and pituitary neuroendocrine tumours.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in spatial transcriptomics data processing and analysis is essential.
- Deep knowledge of neuroendocrinology, particularly endocrine disorders caused by pituitary tumours, is required.
- Knowledge of statistical modelling and machine learning. Experience with Elastic Net models, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and Large Language Models (LLMs) will be considered an advantage.
- Experience in biomedical database management.
- Knowledge and experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data processing and analysis. Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and frameworks, including BLAST, Clustal, Bioconductor, and NGS pipelines. Familiarity with raw sequencing and Illumina array data formats (FASTQ, IDAT), as well as other common genomic formats (SAM/BAM, BED, VCF, etc.), command-line tools (BWA, SAMtools, BEDTools, etc.), and biological databases.
- Programming skills in Python, R, SQL, and Bash. Knowledge of C and C++ will be considered an advantage.
- Experience in scientific writing and interdisciplinary biomedical research.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual with excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborative biomedical research environments.
- Previous research experience in pituitary tumour biology or neuroendocrine diseases will be highly valued.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Indefinite contract (Science Law 17/2022).
- Part-time position (30 hours/week)
- Start date: 1st July 2026.
- Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call, will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate, distributed in 12 payments.
