JOB DESCRIPTION

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute is seeking a Senior Research Technician to join the Endocrine Tumours Group. The candidate will work on thyroid cancer, focusing on the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms underlying tumour progression and therapy resistance, contributing to the identification of novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in a translational research environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collection and processing of biological samples.
  • Design and execution of cell culture–based experiments.
  • Establishment of primary cell cultures from normal and tumour thyroid tissues for biomarker validation and preclinical drug testing.
  • Conduct RNA and protein expression studies.
  • Design and performance of epigenetic studies
  • Data analysis, interpretation of results, and presentation of findings.
  • Collaboration with clinical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or a closely related field, with a special focus on genetics. 
  • Experience in biological sample handling within research and translational settings.
  • Strong experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, gene expression analysis, PCR, qPCR). 
  • Experience in cell culture techniques, including cell lines, primary cultures, 3D culture systems, and genome editing.
  • Solid background in epigenetics, particularly in DNA methylation.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • International research experience.
  • Proactive and highly organized researcher, capable of working independently, with experience in scientific dissemination.
We will value, but not required
  • Experience in thyroid cancer research.
  • Experience in innovation projects.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Indefinite contract (Science Law 17/2022).
  • Full-time contract
  • Start date: 1st July 2026.
  • Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call, will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate, distributed in 12 payments.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.

The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus.
