JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly motivated early-stage Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research team at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP).
 
The successful candidate will join the Resistance, Chemotherapy and Predictive Biomarkers (RCPB) Research Group, led by Dr Eva Martinez-Balibrea from the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and working within the frameworks of the ProCURE (ICO) and CARE (IGTP) programmes. The group focuses on understanding mechanisms of resistance to cancer therapies (mainly in colorectal cancer) on the identification of predictive biomarkers to improve personalised treatment strategies and on the identification of novel drug targets and therapeutic strategies.
 
The group works in a close collaboration with the Medical Oncology Department of ICO-Badalona, ensuring direct interaction between laboratory research and clinical practice.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Co-Leading or leading research projects within the group’s translational research lines
  • Supervising and mentoring PhD and master students
  • Acting as a scientific reference within the laboratory, contributing to experimental design, troubleshooting and data interpretation
  • Preparing research proposals and grant applications, with the support of the group leader
  • Contributing to the writing of manuscripts, dissemination of results and participation in scientific meetings
  • Actively collaborating with clinicians and other researchers in a multidisciplinary translational environment
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

Required qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline (e.g. cancer biology, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, immunology, or related fields)
  • Proven experience in translational cancer research
  • English proficiency at C1 level
  • International mobility
  •  At least two first-author publications in Q1 journals

Key skills and competencies

  • Ability to work independently and lead research projects
  • Demonstrated capacity to write competitive research proposals
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Highly desirable experience

  • Animal experimentation (in vivo mouse models)
  • 3D tumour culture models
  • Handling and analysis of omics data
  • Background in immunology

  • Science law Indefinite contract  (17/2022) linked to the project. 
  • Competitive salary, equivalent to a Sara Borrell contract, adjusted according to experience and distributed in 12 payments.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.

The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus.
