JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Project Manager to lead the scientific coordination of all GCAT projects, ensuring smooth collaboration, timely progress, and full compliance with ethical and legal standards. The role involves close collaboration with IP coordinators, consortium partners, ethics committees, technology transfer teams, financial managers, and communication departments to improve efficiency and facilitate knowledge transfer across both collaborative and funded GCAT initiatives.
 
In addition, the Project Manager will oversee the coordination of data and biological sample flows, ensuring proper traceability through an integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and secure web application fo managing surveys and databases. This includes aligning laboratory workflows with GCAT project needs and, when necessary, occasionally coordinating the day-to-day technical operations of the laboratory to support effective project execution.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage projects to ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, deadlines, and transversal aspects such as open science, ethics, and communication.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical and financial reports.
  • Support fundraising by preparing the technical sections of new grant proposals.
  • Provide expert advice on administrative, ethical, legal, social, and scientific matters aligned with the projects’ theoretical framework and GCAT objectives.
  • Oversee the coordination of biological sample logistics, including traceability and documentation, using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), in alignment with project needs and lab workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE
  • Degree in life sciences or a related field (Master’s or additional training in project coordination is a plus)
  • Experience in research environments, preferably with international or multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven skills in project management and coordination of collaborative projects
  • Familiarity with European or international research funding programs (e.g., Horizon Europe)
  • Understanding of grant application processes and reporting requirements
  • Strong skills in scientific writing and preparation of grant proposals and technical documents
  • High proficiency in Catalan and English, both spoken and written
  • Good command of digital tools such as Excel, project tracking platforms, and online collaboration systems
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, with a flexible and solution-driven mindset
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience or familiarity with coordination of data and biological sample flows and traceability systems (e.g., LIMS, REDCap) is highly valued

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.

The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus.
