JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking for a Group Leader for the group of Experimental Nephrology and Advanced Cell-based Therapies. The selected candidate will lead a new group at the IGTP in close collaboration with the other clinical and basic researchers of the REMAR Group (Recerca en Malalties d’Afectació Renal), and committed to the research in kidney diseases from a translational perspective. The group is born to focus on the experimental advanced cell-based therapies and experimental models of kidney disease.

This contract may benefit from the Support Programme for the Stabilisation of Postdoctoral Researchers of the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Resolution REU/2442/2024 of 2 July approving the regulatory bases of the Support Programme for the Stabilisation of Postdoctoral Researchers, ESTAB).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Defining the research lines of the Group
  • Securing the necessary funding for the research and the personnel.
  • Ensuring research is performed following the best practices and aligned with the strategic plan of the IGTP.
  • The candidate will also be in charge of mentoring any trainee that joins the group including postdocs, PhD students, Masters’ students and undergrads. 
  • The candidate is also expected to actively participate in the IGTP multiple scientific activities such as talks and trainings as well as in outreach efforts both to the general public and patient associations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE
  • Hold a PhD Degree in biomedicine with at least 10 years of experience in basic and translational nephrology and cell-based therapies. Candidates should also have the R3 certificate and a proven 5 -year competitive tenure track.
  • Independent and competitive track in experimental nephrology with ability to attract funding and talent is mandatory.
  • Strong record in field-specific, open science and peer reviewed publications.
  • Proven national and international network in the field, and active in national and international scientific societies and working groups.
  • Experience in supervision and mentorship of PhD, master and undergrad students.
  • International training and fellowships. 
  • Fluent in Catalan, Spanish and English and good communication skills
  • Experience in clinical studies involving human subjects and in vitro and animal models of kidney disease.
  • Experience in extracellular vesicle research will be specially considered.
  • Hold an R3 or I3 certificate or have applied for one

  • Permanent contract (1628 H/ year)
  • Starting date: as soon as possible.
  • Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call, will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate, distributed in 12 payments.

  • 23 days holiday and 5 days for personal matters + 2 personal days for Easter + 2 personal days fro Christmas.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.
