JOB DESCRIPTION
Candidates are sought to apply for external funding for a position as a bioinformatics technician in the High Content Genomics and Bioinformatics Unit of the IGTP. If evaluated positively, you will join the unit to perform tasks related to the bioinformatics data analysis.
The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research center located on the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, Badalona, near Barcelona. The IGTP focuses its research on improving the care and life of patients. The institute is attached to one of the largest teaching hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTP), located on the surrounding biomedical Campus Can Ruti. The IGTP is a CERCA center; member of the biocluster supported and supervised by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is also accredited as a Center of Excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish Government) and, in this sense, acts as an umbrella organization for scientific research on campus, where it works closely with other centers located there.
Bioinformatics and, in particular, genomics is a research area shared by many research groups on the Can Ruti campus that make use of the services offered by the Unit.

The chosen candidate will be requested to apply for public funding (call for grants for hiring Technical Support Staff (PTA), Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), and/or future calls such as Bioinformatics Technicians from IIS ISCIII, Ministry of Health. Current announcment is just for PTA.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with the guiding principles and objectives of the supply systems, following the process described below:
- Curricular evaluation: analysis of the curriculum vitae to assess aspects related to training, professional career and experience in positions related to the job position under selection.
- Personal interview: once the résumé has been evaluated, the selected candidates will be called for a personal interview to verify and expand on the information detailed in the résumé and to evaluate aspects related to experience and professional skills.
Applications that do not meet the requirements, that are not included in the cases foreseen or that are not processed in accordance with the established procedure will not be considered in the selection process.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS
The call for candidate applications to be received by IGTP will close on November 24, 2024.
Applications must provide the advert reference to be considered for candidate selection.
If selected, the candidate will be asked to write a funding application along with the head of the core facility, Dr Lauro Sumoy.
The deadline for the selected candidate to apply for PTA2024 ends on November 26, 2024, at 2 p.m. Paperwork and documents may be needed in order to apply. Please allow extra time for preparing these ahead of the deadline.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.
The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus.
